Collinson is proud to be working with Save the Children to help young people around the world thrive. Since July 2020, Collinson China employees have supported Save the Children’s China Migrant Youth Project in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, created to help improve young people’s employment skills and career development through online and offline training.

Many of China’s young migrants move from rural communities to urban areas having dropped out of secondary school and arrive in unfamiliar settings with little readiness for what they require to gain decent employment. They often face financial and qualification barriers to access skills training and employment services, suffer from weak support networks and are unaware of their rights.

The China Migrant Youth Project was initiated by Save the Children six years ago, and is one initiative of the charity’s broader Child Poverty Project. To date, nearly two hundred volunteers have participated as professional mentors to aid more than 5,000 urban migrant youths. With the support of Collinson's professional technology and resources, the most recent phase of the project in Guangzhou and Shenzhen adopts a combination of online tutor platform and offline skills training, and is designed to create the best model of youth employment support services.

To further share news of the Project and raise awareness of the issue of youth employment, Ms. Deng Lifang (Vivien), Collinson China’s General Manager, will speak at Save the Children’s Technical Innovation and Youth Employment Forum in Guangzhou on 15 November. In addition to sharing details of Collinson’s global corporate social responsibility approach, Ms. Deng will join other event participants for a roundtable regarding strategies to support youth employment by leveraging technological innovation.

“Youth groups are focused on achieving improved employment and self-development for young people today, which is required to help break the intergenerational transmission and cycle of poverty. To succeed, the cooperation and support of all parties in society is required."

"At present, we are working together with Collinson to provide employment skills training and career development consultation and guidance for urban migrant youth aged between 15-24. We hope to help young people from under privileged circumstances and limited education levels, to better cope with the severe challenges of the current labour market in order to achieve personal success." Continued Xia Cuntao, the Programme Director of Save the Children’s China Youth Development.

As a partner of the China Migrant Youth Project, Collinson aims to help 200 urban migrant youth this year. Collinson employees actively participate in the project as mentors to help young people improve their vocational soft skills, develop clear career plans, and get more engaged with the community. Ms. Deng’s speaking opportunity is designed with the aim of encouraging more people to support projects such as these.
