Collinson Insurance supports Expedia in extending free lounge access benefit to Expedia One Key Gold members

Collinson Insurance is supporting Expedia’s One Key Gold and Platinum members in the U.S. with complimentary airport lounge access when their flights are delayed. The benefit is delivered through Collinson Insurance’s SmartDelay+ solution and underwritten by Starr Insurance.

The benefit follows a parametric-style model: a verified event triggers a predefined response without the member going through a conventional claims process. Gold and Platinum One Key members who book eligible1 flights through Expedia are registered for SmartDelay+ automatically, with no separate flight registration required.

If their flight is delayed or disrupted for 90 minutes or more, the member receives an alert through the Expedia app and a QR code for airport lounge access. If no eligible lounge or airport experience is available, they receive $20 in OneKeyCash to use across Expedia. The member does not need to submit a claim or provide evidence of the delay.

Collinson provides the technology, live flight monitoring, servicing and access to more than 1,800 airport lounges and travel experiences across 788 airports in 144 countries. Starr underwrites the benefit in the US, while Expedia manages eligibility, booking and delivery through its app and Expedia One Key loyalty program.

Expedia One Key is Expedia’s free loyalty program, offering instant member discounts and OneKeyCash™ rewards that can be used on future eligible travel. Expedia is enhancing its free lounge access benefit for delayed flights and extending eligibility to Gold members.

The expansion to Expedia One Key Gold members demonstrates how insurers and travel brands can extend relevant benefits to broader customer segments through an integrated model combining real-time flight monitoring, insurance underwriting and digital servicing. By embedding the benefit directly into Expedia's loyalty experience, eligible members can access support following qualifying flight delays without separate registration or claims submission.

Alex Lawrence, Global Head of Product and Proposition at Collinson Insurance, said: “The flight data already tells us when a member has been delayed, so why ask them to tell us again through a claim? Our work with Expedia turns that information into action through an experience members already use. Extending the benefit to Gold members shows what travel brands and insurers can achieve when the response is designed around the traveler rather than the claim.”
