Why Germany’s Expanding Airport Experience Network Matters for Issuers

New lounge additions strengthen Priority Pass presence across Germany

Germany is one of Europe's most important aviation markets, serving millions of business and leisure travellers every year. As expectations around premium travel continue to evolve, convenience, comfort and time well spent are becoming increasingly important to travellers.

The expansion of airport experiences across Germany's major travel hubs is creating new opportunities for issuers to strengthen their propositions through benefits that cardholders can use and appreciate throughout their journey.

Priority Pass has an established presence across Germany, with airport experiences available at major travel hubs including Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hamburg, as well as a number of regional airports. Explore the full Priority Pass network in Germany.

Expanding Access Across Germany's Key Travel Hubs

Recent additions to the Priority Pass network have expanded access to premium airport experiences across some of Germany's most important business and leisure travel hubs. For issuers, wider coverage creates more opportunities for cardholders to experience the value of travel benefits across key routes and airports.

Most recently, the opening of Frankfurt Terminal 3 has strengthened our offering at one of Europe's busiest international gateways. The addition of the Priority Lounge and SkyTeam Lounge in the Non-Schengen zone, alongside the Air France Lounge in the Schengen zone, expands access across the airport and broadens the range of experiences available to travellers.

This year, we marked a significant milestone in Stuttgart, as Airport Lounge The Aviator Gallery joined Priority Pass, making Stuttgart Airport part of the programme for the first time. As a key gateway for both business and leisure travel in Baden-Württemberg, the addition further extends our presence into one of Germany's most economically important regions.

These latest additions build on continued growth in Berlin, where the Tegel Lounge joined the network, followed by the introduction of the Priority Pass EAT alternative dining experience Berlin Pub in Terminal 1 during the summer of 2026. Together, these investments have broadened access across Germany’s major travel hubs and created more opportunities for travellers to relax, work and recharge before flying.

Beyond expanding geographic coverage, these additions reflect a broader shift in traveller expectations and the growing importance of airport experiences within the overall journey.

Convenience Has Become a Premium Benefit

As airports become busier and passenger expectations continue to evolve, travellers are increasingly seeking experiences that reduce the stress often associated with modern air travel. Long security queues, airport congestion and changing flight schedules have increased demand for travel benefits that offer comfort, convenience and a more seamless journey.

Airport lounges have evolved beyond simply providing a place to sit before a flight. Today's travellers value experiences that help them make better use of their time, whether that means accessing a quiet workspace, enjoying quality food and beverage options, staying connected through fast Wi-Fi or simply finding a comfortable environment away from the crowded terminal spaces.

For issuers, this shift presents an opportunity as it reflects a broader change in how travellers define premium experiences. Premium experiences are not only associated with luxury, but with convenience, time saved and a smoother travel experience.

Supporting Stronger Premium Payment Propositions

For issuers, the value of lounge access extends beyond the travel itself. Premium travel benefits remain among the most visible and frequently used cardholder benefits, helping reinforce the value of premium products while supporting customer acquisition, engagement and retention objectives.

As competition for affluent cardholders intensifies, meaningful experiences are becoming an increasingly important differentiator. A growing airport experience network enables issuers to offer value that customers can see, use and appreciate directly, strengthening the connection between the card programme and the travel experiences it helps unlock.

The continued expansion of the Priority Pass network in Germany helps ensure that cardholders have access to premium airport experiences across key business and leisure travel routes. For travellers, this means more opportunities to enhance their journey. For issuers, wider coverage increases the relevance of travel benefits while supporting broader customer acquisition and retention strategies.

Delivering Value Beyond the Card

Germany continues to play a strategic role in European aviation, commerce and international travel. As airport infrastructure develops and traveller expectations continue to rise, access to premium travel experiences will remain a key component of successful premium payment propositions.

As premium becomes increasingly associated with convenience rather than exclusivity alone, airport experiences are evolving from a travel benefit into a strategic tool for engagement, loyalty and long-term cardholder value. For issuers, expanding access across Germany's major travel hubs is not simply about increasing coverage. It is about delivering the experiences travellers increasingly value most.
