Columbus Direct, the leading travel insurance brand operated by Collinson, has been named ‘Aggregator, Broker, Affinity Partner of the Year’ at the 2019 ITIJ Awards. Now in their 17th year, the ITIJ Awards recognise the companies that excel in serving their customers and clients to drive forward positive change in the travel and health insurance industry around the world. Having launched over 30 years ago, Columbus Direct was awarded for its product innovation, excellent customer experience and unique suite of complimentary benefits offered to all customers.

Within the last twelve months, Columbus Direct launched its new 24/7 online claims portal, aiming to make the practicalities of submitting a claim as easy as possible, in addition to a new complimentary benefit: five-day unlimited global Wi-Fi, offering coverage through over 67 million hotspots in 180 countries worldwide. This benefit is an exciting addition to the brand’s rich proposition which covers over 150 sports and activities and offers airport lounge access for flight delays of an hour or more, via Collinson’s SmartDelay service, and instant digital access to medical professionals, through Columbus Direct’s partnership with Babylon Health. 

The awards ceremony took place on the final night of the ITIC Global conference in Malta. Other winners included Air Ambulance Worldwide, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) and Verisk Risk Rating.
