Jambo and Collinson partner to help engage millennial business travellers

Jambo, a platform connecting industry partners and business travellers, has won a recent startup pitch evening held at the Traveltech Lab in London. It beat four other startups after progressing from an initial pool of 20 applicants. The platform puts the enjoyment back into business travel by helping professionals connect with like-minded people nearby, find relevant events and join special interest or sector Tribes.

Jambo impressed the judging panel consisting of industry experts from Expedia, Collinson, and travel blog, Hey Dip Your Toes In, with its leading digital experience for millennial travellers. It has the potential to give the hospitality industry an innovative avenue to engage with this important audience. Jambo is a social platform offering personalised recommendations to business travellers and so provides the opportunity for brands to connect with these business travellers throughout the entire travel experience - from first planning and booking the trip, through to at the destination and flying back home.

Jambo will work with Collinson, a global leader in influencing customer behaviour, to explore ways of co-innovating. The intention is to develop a joint service for Collinson's clients to offer millennial travellers a differentiated experience that drives deeper engagement. Collinson works with brands including Mastercard, Visa, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and Accor Hotels to offer engaging customer loyalty programmes and travel experiences.

Innovation in the hospitality and travel industry is booming, as companies seek to better engage with millennial travellers. Brands are constantly competing with one another to increase brand advocacy with millennials, and partnering with organisations to provide experiences with a unique twist is seen as one way to gain an advantage. Airbnb is doing this exceptionally well, connecting guests and hosts with one another. Travellers want to experience places as if they were local, and have restaurants and hidden gems recommended to them.  

Services such as Airbnb and TripAdvisor changed how people travel, offering consumers an engaging way to get great experiences while abroad. The idea of like-minded travel tribes in the context of business or leisure travel, such as those offered by Jambo, is one way that brands can reconnect with millennials and add value to their travel experiences.
