London Marathon Runner

Due to COVID-19, charities across the globe are experiencing unprecedented challenges and significant pressure from both loss of income and an increase in demand for their services. Mental health charities are among those hit the hardest, with limited resources making it difficult for them to provide support to the growing number of people struggling with their mental wellbeing due to the impacts of the pandemic.

We’re extremely proud of the efforts of our colleague, Karina Rojo, Acquisition Marketing Coordinator for Priority Pass, who took part in the virtual 40th London Marathon on Sunday 4th October, in order to support the mental health initiative Heads Together

Karina was originally selected to represent Collinson and Heads Together at the marathon in April but was unable to travel to the UK from the US due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, for the first time in its history, London Marathon invited this year’s participants to run, walk or jog their race from any location around the globe.

Rising to the challenge of her first marathon, Karina has been training hard all year, whilst also raising awareness and funds to tackle the stigma that surrounds mental
health, a topic that is an important area of focus for Collinson’s corporate responsibility agenda.

Karina was cheered on by her friends, family and colleagues as she completed her 26.2 miles in her hometown of Dallas, finishing in 5 hours and 52 minutes.

It was an especially unique experience to be able to complete my first marathon in my hometown, where I ran through Downtown Dallas, passing through the American Airlines Centre and the John F. Kennedy memorial.

"Thank you all for the virtual support from London and everywhere else around the world. Huge shout out to those who ran with me and helped me push all the way to the end, I couldn’t have done it without you all! What a great cause to run for on such a beautiful day.”

Collinson is proud to support Heads Together, so we can play our role in changing the conversation on mental health.
